What am I going to do?
You are going to write an essay comparing and contrasting the first, second, and third classes on the Titanic. You can write your essay on Book Creator or Pages. Your essay should include the following paragraphs and elements:
- Title Page- Title and Author's Name
- Paragraph #1: Introduction
- Paragraph #2: How the classes are SIMILAR
- Paragraph #3: How the classes are DIFFERENT- The 1st Class
- Paragraph #4: How the classes are DIFFERENT- The 2nd Class
- Paragraph #5: How the classes are DIFFERENT- The 3rd Class
- Paragraph #6: Conclusion

Gathering Information
- Before you begin writing, you must gather your information.
- You can create a Venn Diagram (using rectangles rather than circles) in your writing spiral or use the Compare and Contrast graphic organizer.
- Read through the three articles that are attached below and take organized notes on how the classes are SIMILAR and DIFFERENT.

What Else?
- Add VOICE to your writing. Intrigue the reader, make them want to keep reading. Don't just list the facts, put your own VOICE into your writing!
- Use transition words to help move from sentence to sentence or detail to detail. See the list of transition words below that will help you share your compare and contrast details.
- If you would like to add illustrations, captions, labels, a glossary or other non-fiction text features, feel free. We have practiced this many times and now you have the opportunity to create your essay to your best ability.
